A safe and stable home is the foundation upon which families build their futures. Through our community housing initiative, Beacon Community Care has been working to provide dignified housing for families living in substandard conditions.
Project Milestone: 30 Homes Completed
We are thrilled to announce that we have completed the construction of 30 new homes as part of our ongoing housing project in Bandung and surrounding areas. These homes replace structures that were unsafe, overcrowded, or at risk of collapse.
How We Build
Our housing program is built on the principle of community participation. Rather than simply constructing homes for families, we involve the families and their neighbors in the building process. This approach builds skills, strengthens community bonds, and ensures that residents feel true ownership of their new homes.
Each home includes:
- Two bedrooms with proper ventilation
- A kitchen and living area
- Indoor bathroom with clean water access
- Earthquake-resistant construction
- Basic furnishings and household items
The Families
The 30 families selected for this phase of the project were identified through a careful needs assessment process. Many were single-parent households, families with disabled members, or elderly couples living alone in deteriorating structures.
The joy on their faces during the handover ceremonies reminded us all of why this work matters. A home is more than four walls and a roof — it is security, dignity, and a place where dreams can take root.
We are already planning the next phase of the project, with a goal of building 50 more homes by the end of 2026. If you would like to support this work, consider making a donation or organizing a volunteer construction team.
