Access to clean water is one of the most fundamental needs for any community. For years, many rural villages in East Java have struggled with contaminated water sources, leading to preventable illnesses and hardship for thousands of families.
The Challenge
In the remote highlands of East Java, communities have long relied on untreated river water and shallow wells that are often contaminated during the rainy season. Children miss school due to waterborne diseases, and families spend hours each day walking to distant water sources.
Our Approach
Working alongside local leaders and engineers, our team designed and installed gravity-fed filtration systems and drilled deep wells in 12 villages. Each system was tailored to the unique geography and needs of the community.
The installations include:
- 8 gravity-fed filtration systems using natural sand and gravel filters
- 4 deep wells with hand pumps for areas without elevation advantage
- Community training programs for ongoing maintenance
- Water quality testing equipment for each village
The Impact
Since the completion of these installations, over 3,000 families now have access to safe drinking water within a short walk from their homes. Early reports show a significant decrease in waterborne illnesses, and children are attending school more regularly.
Before this program, my children were sick almost every month. Now they are healthy and never miss school. — Ibu Sari, village resident
This initiative is just the beginning. We are planning to expand to 20 more villages in 2026, and we invite you to be part of this life-changing work.
