Medical Mission in Flores: Serving Remote Communities
In September 2025, a dedicated team of 20 volunteer medical professionals traveled to the remote island of Flores in eastern Indonesia to bring healthcare to communities that rarely see a doctor.
The Mission
Over the course of two weeks, our medical team set up temporary clinics in three districts: Manggarai, Ngada, and Ende. Working from community centers and school buildings, the team provided comprehensive health services to residents of all ages.
Services Provided
The mission offered a wide range of medical services:
- General health screenings and consultations
- Dental examinations and basic dental procedures
- Eye exams and distribution of reading glasses
- Childhood vaccinations
- Prenatal care for expectant mothers
- Distribution of essential medicines
By the Numbers
In just two weeks, the team served 1,500 patients, performed 200 dental procedures, distributed 300 pairs of reading glasses, and administered vaccinations to 180 children. Many of these patients had never received a professional medical examination before.
The gratitude in their eyes made every long day worth it. These communities deserve access to quality healthcare, and we are committed to returning. — Dr. Maria Tanaka, Mission Lead
We are already planning our next medical mission for early 2026. If you are a medical professional interested in volunteering, or if you would like to support this work financially, please reach out to our team.
