Every August, Beacon Community Care hosts its annual Youth Leadership Camp, bringing together young people from across the region to learn, grow, and prepare to become the next generation of community leaders.
This Year's Theme: "Lead with Purpose"
The 2025 camp welcomed over 150 participants aged 15 to 22 for a transformative five-day experience. This year's theme challenged young people to discover their unique strengths and channel them toward serving their communities.
Camp Activities
The program included a rich mix of workshops and hands-on experiences:
- Public speaking and communication workshops
- Team-building challenges and outdoor adventures
- Community service project planning
- Mentorship sessions with established community leaders
- Creative arts and cultural performances
Community Impact Projects
One of the highlights of this year's camp was the community impact project component. Participants were divided into teams and tasked with designing a project that addresses a real need in their home community. The top three projects received seed funding from BCC to bring their ideas to life.
The winning projects included a neighborhood library initiative, a community garden program, and a peer tutoring network for students struggling in school.
We are incredibly proud of these young leaders and look forward to seeing the positive changes they will bring to their communities in the months ahead.
